It's a very interesting time that we're experiencing at the moment. Lots of emotions involved, fear and anxiety from the uncertainty to trying our best to stay positive and believe that we will all get through this crisis. Some of us may notice a change or a delay in our period due to increased levels of stress. It is very important for us to maintain our mental health and there are several things that we can incorporate into our new daily routines to help deal with the added stress.
When you wake up, prior to checking your phone or reading the news, take a few minutes to journal your thoughts. Write down three things that you are grateful for, forces you to be present and to really take count of all the blessings you do have.
The endorphins produced during physical activity help with moods as well as pain so when we do get our periods, although we can feel sluggish or uncomfortable, we actually feel better once our bodies get moving. We're seeing a ton of workouts from gyms and people in general posting and challenging each other everyday on social media, have some fun and get involved. For those who do fear either period or bladder leaks, we have pants for that 😉! We've heard that there is now a shortage of tampons and pads due to stockpiling which is why we've made it easy for you, once you're done wearing the pants just toss them in the wash and voila it really is that easy. But again, stay active and trust us, you will feel better.
Meditation is another great way to ease your heart and mind from all the chaos that is surrounding us. For those who say "I don't know how to meditate or I'm not sure if I'm doing it correctly", it can be as simple as focusing on taking deep breaths. There are plenty of guided meditations you can check out on YouTube, Kelly Howell is a personal favorite.
Our last recommendation as we continue to move through unchartered waters with Covid-19, is to reach out to your loved ones by giving them a call or FaceTime. We are so lucky that we live in a time where technology allows us to stay connected even though we're practicing social distancing or isolation.
